The world rugby series made its way back to Vancouver this weekend for the Canada Sevens.
During early mornings and full days, many hardcore rugby fans dressed in full costumes came to cheer on their teams. Approximately 30,000 fans attended the event at Vancouver's BC Place weekend, but likely thanks to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the crowd was slightly smaller than in previous years.
The atmosphere was electric all weekend; each time a player made a good tackle or score the crowd roared, especially for Team Canada.
The Canadian men played hard, winning a single pool play game on day one and two of their three games on day two.
"We bring emotion every game," said Jake Thiel after their win against Scotland "All these games matter to us, every win matters, but right now we are enjoying this heck of a crowd, and all the boys are really enjoying it."
The national men’s team placed 10th after losing to Ireland 7 - 17 in their final match and Argentina took home the trophy defeating Fiji 29 - 10.
The women's Canada Sevens will be taking place in Langford, B.C. from April 30 to May 1 and the Canadian men's team is scheduled to make their next appearance at the sevens tournament in Toulouse, France.
