A Fraser Valley Farm will host a butterfly release on the summer solstice to symbolize renewal and hope in the wake of the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On June 20 and June 21, Taves Family Farm in Abbotsform will host the Butterfly Release: a social distancing event where people release their buttlerflies at designated times to ensure safe physical distancing. Alternatively, people may purchase butterflies and release them later at home or have Taves release them for them.
"We have created this special event to symbolize renewal. Just as the butterfly transforms from caterpillar to butterfly, so shall we," say Taves in their event description.
"Whether you want to release a butterfly focusing on renewal, to set positive intentions for the future,to honour a loved one, or to provide an outdoor field trip experience for your children."
The packages include signature soft apple cider but also Taves' new hard apple cider from Taves Estate Cidery. This cidery opened only a few weeks ago amidst the pandemic.
The Butterfly Release Packages include soft apple cider slushies, soft and hard apple cider and a donation to the Abbotsford Food Bank.
