New medical TV show to film scenes in popular Vancouver park

The crew will use camera and lighting positions during filming in the park, as well as atmospheric smoke.

Vancouverites can catch filming for a new CBS show in a popular Yaletown park this week.

First Cut Productions Inc. notified residents in the Yaletown area of filming on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show will film scenes in Emery Barnes Park at 1170 Richards St and the surrounding area (see slide two).

The production is for a new CBS medical series called Watson, following the affairs of detective Sherlock Holmes' famous companion.

According to Variety, the show takes place a year after the death of Holmes by his archnemesis Moriarty, as Watson continues to treat patients for rare disorders.

A small crew will arrive early Monday to start prepping the area for filming until 7 p.m. Work trucks will come after that and stay in the area overnight. Additional work trucks and crew will arrive at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and prepare the area for filming.

The crew and cast will start filming exterior scenes on the east side of Emery Barnes Park, involving actors who exit a vehicle parked on the "1100 block of Richards Street and walk to join their friend who is eating lunch in the park," according to the notification.

The crew will use camera and lighting positions during filming in the park, as well as atmospheric smoke. However, they won't use other special effects, such as stunts or loud noises.

A small crew will wrap the location from 5 to 10 p.m.
