September 2019 Events

Le Burger Week

Launched in 2012, the annual Le Burger Week event has brought burger lovers together in numerous Canadian cities since 2017. Metro Vancouverites have a few places they can head to in order to sink their teeth into some pretty epic meaty and cheesy creations as part of the 2019 Le Burger Week. Diners are encouraged to eat and vote for their favourites.

Gyoza Bar's 5th Anniversary Miyazaki Wagyu menu

To celebrate their milestone fifth anniversary, Gyoza Bar is launching a limited, special menu for the month of September, focused on two new Miyazaki Wagyu dishes – the Miyazaki Wagyu Teppan Hamburg Steak and Miyazaki Wagyu Meatball Ramen.

Tasting Plates - Commercial Drive

Explore the Commercial Drive neighbourhood and tantalize your taste buds at several restaurants and cafes. Each restaurant will be serving up Tasting Plates and Tasting Cups for guests to enjoy and you will have a chance to visit many different types of restaurants throughout the event, meet some new food loving friends, meet the chefs, and learn about each of the participating restaurants.

Manila Comes to Town - Filipino Food Truck Event

As part of the Philippine Consulate General’s continuing efforts to introduce and promote Filipino cuisine in Vancouver, the Consulate has organized a food truck event called “Manila Comes to Town,” featuring Filipino food businesses, Max’s Restaurant and Shameless Buns, as well as La Glace ice cream. Go get your lunch on, Filipino-style.

Farmers’ Harvest Menu at Wildebeest

Wildebeest will continue showcasing its ever-growing family of farm providers across the province when it debuts a Farmers’ Harvest Menu available exclusively at the Gastown hotspot from September 5 to 18.  The menu stars five vegetable-forward dishes from B.C. growers, and is available for $60 per person plus tax and gratuity, with optional beverage pairings by Bar Manager Alex Black and Wine Director Christina Hartigan available for $32 per person. The feature menu is available in limited quantities on a first-come, first-served basis in addition to Wildebeest’s regular nightly menu.

Do u even soufflé pancake, bro? To get everyone amped about their soufflé pancakes, Fufú Cafe will have a Grand Opening special on Sat. Sept. 7, and they’ll be giving away Classic soufflé pancakes to the first 50 customers, then offering the Classic plates for 50% off for the remainder of day one (and they’ll just be serving up the classics for their first day).

Polish Festival Vancouver

Soak up the sights, sounds, and most importantly, tastes of Polish culture. The family-friendly event starts at 1 pm on Sunday, September 8, and offers puppet theatre, traditional food, dance groups, live music and entertainment continuing through into the night.

Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields

This four-hour wandering gourmet harvest festival highlights the connections between farmers and chefs, field and table, and between farm folks and city folks. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, guests stroll across a farmers field, traveling from tent to tent (sometimes through the barn, past the tractor or around the chicken coop) listening to live music, and tasting gourmet creations from top B.C. chefs, farmers, fishers, ranchers, food artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers.

Gabi & Jules PADS Litter Fundraiser

Local sweet spot, Gabi & Jules Bakery, is holding a fundraiser to raise money to sponsor and name a litter of PADS puppies. Tickets to the event are $40 for adults and $20 for children and include a burger, drink, and a slice of Gabi & Jules famous pie. (Vegetarian options will be available.)  Festivities will include live music, face-painting, door-prizes, and up to 20 PADS pups for everyone to snuggle, pet, and play with. Squee!

Chambar 15th Anniversary Block Party

Chambar is throwing a party and everyone’s invited! The 15th anniversary celebrations kick off with a block party featuring live entertainment and an outdoor pig roast. The highlight will be a giveaway of 1,500 of Chambar’s famous waffles — the sweet treat that started it all!  This is a free, all-ages event and open to the public.

VIN VAN Long Table Dinner

This long table dinner will focus on the wines of the Pacific Northwest. Your night of Best Coast vino includes a multi-course feast created by Belgard Kitchen's Head Chef Drew Scott.

Flamenco Paella Party Day at Burnaby Artisan Farmers' Market

The Burnaby Farmers' Market will get a splash of Spanish zest thanks to a paella event with tasting plates (for a fee), live music and dancing, and of course all the regular colour and eats the market has to offer

Raise the Barn dinner for Hazelmere Organic Farm

This seven-course fundraising dinner titled “Raise the Barn” will directly support rebuilding the barn for Hazelmere Organic Farm. Fraser Valley Taco Festival

What's not to love about a day devoted to "love and tacos," right? The Fraser Valley Taco Fest is a rain or shine family-friendly day of eating tacos. Kids 11 and under are free. Get a GA ticket to get in and buy tokens on site, or get a Primo ticket which gives you 10 tokens and early entry.

Vancouver Cheese and Meat Festival

Cheese and meat and meat and cheese! This annual fest is the best of both worlds, where you can meander and taste to your heart's content from participating vendors and purveyors. Plus there are a number of seminars and workshops as part of the event.

Secret Garden Sake Dinner at Yuwa

Yuwa Japanese Cuisine will take guests on a guided tour of the gardens that give Japanese brewery Amabuki its international renown when it welcomes the celebrated sakemaker for a special ‘Secret Garden’ Sake Dinner. Featured sakes will include Hidden Daiginjo Abelia Yeast, Junmai Ginjo Strawberry Yeast and Junmai Daiginjo Kimoto, among others, which will be paired with an eight-course feast featuring Chef and Co-Owner Masahiro Omori’s signature interpretation of traditional Japanese cuisine.

B.C. vs The World: Wine Dinner

It's going to be a boisterous battle of B.C. wines versus Wines of the World. Hart House Executive Chef Mike Genest will prepare a four course dinner paired with each of the wines selected by Wine Director Edwyn Kumar.

Wünderbar ‘Oktobeerfest’ Pop-Up at Bells and Whistles

When the clock strikes midnight in Munich on Saturday, September 21 at 3 p.m. Bells and Whistles will don the lederhosen and kick off 17 days of Bavarian-inspired celebrations by hosting its second annual Wünderbar ‘Oktobeerfest’ Pop-Up until Sunday, October 6. During the event, a number of Oktoberfest-themed favourites will return to the menu, and German brews will be at the bar.

P49 Oktoberfest

Grab your lederhosen, and flex those pint-hoisting muscles. Pretzels, traditional german snacks, $6 beers, and a live polka band await at Paralle 49's Oktoberfest. Heads up, this isn't taking place in their Street Kitchen tasting room/restaurant.

Storm Brewing's 25th Anniversary Party

Cascade Room' All You Can Eat Barbarian's Feast

Ready to meet the meat sweats? Cascade Room's annual Barbarian's Feast is an all-out pig out of medieval proportions. Seating is first-come, first-served. There's a welcome cocktail, guided whiskey tasting, then the AYCE feat that stars a roasted pig, other roast beasts, sides, and dessert.

Poutine With Purpose

You eat poutine to satisfy a craving, quell a hangover, or indulge on vacation. So what if there was a way to eat poutine for a week to help out a worthy cause? Sign us up! Poutine With Purpose is a popular week-long fundraising event that began in Calgary, and will make its Vancouver debut this fall. The event offers diners the chance to eat and enjoy a poutine at any of several partner restaurants, and for every poutine sold, a healthy meal is provided to a youth in need through charity partner Mealshare.

Zwanze Day at Bells and Whistles

The worldwide phenomenon known as ‘Zwanze Day’ will make its triumphant return to Bells and Whistles at the end of the month. This is an annual celebration that sees fewer than than 100 taprooms around the world selected to showcase an experimental ‘lambic’-style beer produced especially for the occasion by renowned Belgian brewer Brasserie-Brouwerij Cantillon as part of its ‘Zwanze’ series. The 2019 Zwanze Day beer is a blend of classic pilsner malt and smoked malt. Bells and Whistles is one of only three Canadian locations to participate in the event, and will be tapping the only keg of this year’s exclusive Zwanze in Western Canada, along with seven other exclusive lambic beers from Cantillon.

Big Day BBQ Tailgate Parties at The American

New month, new time to enjoy a new tailgate party. Starting Sun. Sept. 8 and running every Sunday, Big Day BBQ will be holding a pop-up Tailgate Party for game day Sundays at The American. The menu includes Big Day BBQ’s classic spread of 14 hours smoked brisket, Memphis-style ribs, pulled pork, and a variety of sides – Tex-Mex Pasta Salad, Smokey Slaw, and Pit Beans.

Shipyards Night Market

The Shipyards Night Market will once again liven up Shipbuilders’ Square in North Vancouver’s lower Lonsdale with over 100 vendors, including food trucks, and a 19+ beer garden. With a “hot food alley” stacked with dozens of food trucks, the Shipyards Night Market is one of the summer’s most delicious pop-up weekend eats destinations. Plus you can sip on craft beer and cider in the beer garden, shop from the many vendor stalls, and enjoy live entertainment.

Richmond Night Market

Midway games, vendor booths, live entertainment, and an insane amount of food will once again draw crowds at this popular event. The market consistently offers an impressive quantity of options for shopping and eating–they have over 100 food stalls and 200 vendors. But the food is always one of the most exciting parts of the Night Market, so you can expect to find everything from those iconic “tornado potatoes” to grilled meats, bubble waffles, “large” fried chicken, wild beverage concoctions, epic treats, and who knows what else is in store for this year.

West Coast Culinary Experience at PICA

The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) recently launched this immersive exploration of B.C.’s vibrant culinary landscape. Take a guided tour of Granville Island with food and wine experts, then enjoy some delicious food. The experience takes about three hours.
