From book sales to St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Richmond, there's something for everyone this weekend.
1. Book sale
Friends of the Richmond Library is hosting a two-day "Whale of a Book Sale."
There will be a wide selection of English and Chinese books, some used and some like new with many genres and authors including adult fiction and non-fiction categories.
Books from art and music to sports and travel as well as children's books will all be sold at a low cost.
All proceeds from the sale benefit Richmond public libraries. The sale is cash only and patrons are asked to bring their own bags or boxes.
Date: Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Thompson Community Centre, 5151 Granville Ave.
2. Learn about the salmon lifecycle
Learn about the challenges Pacific salmon endure in the West Coast's waters during their lifecycles this spring break. Visitors can take the place of the salmon and complete their own journey up and down the Cannery while joining in salmon-themed activities.
When all challenges are completed, an exclusive prize will be given.

3. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day early
Steveston's Buck & Ear is celebrating St. Patrick's Day early with performances and food.
It will be a night featuring a local band and late night happy hour.
