A Vancouver walking club has organized an enchanting free tour that allows people to take in the magic of the city’s Christmas lights in one fell swoop.
The jolly outing, led by Vancouver ‘Venturers, takes place on Dec. 7 and is set to showcase some of the best holiday lights downtown and the West End has to offer in just a couple of hours.
The group meets at JJ Bean Coffee roasters at 2.30 p.m. and then embarks on the lights walk at 3 p.m., starting off by visiting displays of gingerbread creations and decorated trees.
Highlights of the tour include stopping by Christmas at Canada Place to see the Woodward’s windows and Canada’s North light display, strolling to Stanley Park to see the spectacular Bright Nights lights and watching the Lights of Hope at St. Paul’s Hospital twinkle.
Along the way you’ll also get to visit several places where you can vote for the best trees or displays, make donations and enter prize draws.
If you plan on going, wear something bright or reflective and bring a flashlight so you can read the route instructions.
You can choose to walk 5K or 10K. Although, the 5K route does not include Stanley Park, Beach Avenue or the Lights of Hope at St. Paul’s Hospital.
All are invited to join the group for dinner, following the walk, at Urban Fare, at 1133 Alberni Street.
