When I was in grade 4 I won an airband contest with Twisted Sister's song, "We're Not Gonna Take It". Everyone else was strumming on meter sticks while my dad had crafted us plywood guitars emblazoned with bright lightning bolts. I made a sweet looking drum kit out of cardboard boxes and walked through the "crowd" shaking a paper-mache bone in my mums best make-up.
Last weekend Twisted Sister played the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam. It has been 25 years since these S.M.F's came to town and this was the band's only Canadian date on their current tour. Lucky for me I spent it front row, pressed up against the metal grid, banging my head and pumping my fist!
There are always lots of great acts playing the casinos in the lower mainland, I suggest checking out their event calendars; you're sure to find a hidden gem.
