People will once again be riding bikes nude through the streets of Vancouver to protest fossil fuels.
The annual World Naked Bike Ride hits the road on Saturday, June 12. The ride supports ecological and climate change causes and is aligned with Extinction Rebellion, according to event organizers.
"The event is a 'positive' protest against car culture, oil spills, and pipelines. It is also a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the human-powered machine," state organizers on the event's Facebook page.
This year's event will begin at noon at Sunset Beach with the ride's start time still being determined. The route will be a loop covering around 9 km.
While the ride organizers encourage nudity, they have a few tips regarding covering up. They suggest sunscreen and shoes, for one. And wearing a helmet is a must. Also, warm clothing is suggested for before and after the event.
They also encourage body paint and creativity.
"Wear fun, attention-grabbing clothes, costumes, accessories, and paints!" they state.
Body positivity and respecting body types are also a part of the ride, and organizers are reminding participants the event is not sexual in nature.
Organizers are hoping for 300 or more participants this year.
