A Taiwanese tea shop brand known for its innovative practices is growing in Metro Vancouver, with the addition of a new location in Vancouver.
Chicha San Chen is opening a franchise at 6342 Cambie St (near the Langara Canada Line station), which marks the third of its tea shops in B.C. so far.
The brand is acclaimed for its use of loose-leaf teas to make drinks on demand (no powders) and its patented "Teapresso Machine" used for brewing.
Popular options on its menu include drinks like the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea and Classic Bubble Milk Tea, along with its Taro series and brewed green and black teas.
You may have heard "Michelin Star" used to describe one of Chicha San Chen's honours, however, that is not quite what the business achieved. It is not starred as the prestigious guide awards stars to restaurants, but rather that its beverages were honoured in 2021 through a judging process its website calls "Michelin Star Evaluate" as part of that year's International Taste Institute - a consumer rating for food and drink products.
Chicha San Chen began in Taiwan 20 years ago and has locations around the world, including in Russia, Australia, the Philippines, and the U.S. In Canada, there are Chich San Chen franchises in Toronto and Montreal, and, closer to home, in Richmond (at Unit 157-6368 No. 3 Rd) and Burnaby (4501 Kingsway).
The Vancouver location of Chicha San Chen shared on its Instagram stories Wednesday (Jan. 29) that it crossed the final hurdle in opening by passing its health inspection, which means grand opening news is pending.
