'Thanks for the support': Vancouver taco restaurant quietly closes permanently

It lasted seven years on Denman

After seven years, La Catrina Tacos has shut down its restaurant on Denman Street.

Opened in the spring of 2016, the taco shop at 1187 Denman St. specialized in tacos with a dozen varieties on the regular menu, serving tourists and locals near English Bay and the beachside A-Maze-Ing Laughter statues. They also served other Mexican staples like quesadillas and burritos.

A couple of years later the business opened a second location specializing in soups at 595 Burrard St., but that has since closed.

While no announcement has been made on social media, the taco shop's Instagram does note it's permanently closed in its bio. Meanwhile, the eatery's playlist on Spotify is still up.

At the same time, signs about the closure have been put up on the shop windows.

"CLOSED," announces one sign. "Thanks for the support."

The other notes that the equipment and supplies left at the business are for sale, as are the decorations.
