French Toast is an undisputed brunch classic, and everyone has their Vancouver favourites.
El Camino's on Main Street recently refreshed its weekend brunch menu, and among their Mexican-inspired approachable eats like chilaquiles, breakfast tacos, and basic brunch egg combos are some fun options if you're looking for a bit of a break from the usual.
Here, hash takes a trip south of the border with the Chorillana Chilena, which features home fries with beef, chorizo, caramelized onions, and tomatoes topped with chipotle mayo, jack cheese, and two sunny side up eggs. You'll also find a golden-yolked sunny egg atop pan-seared cornbread loaded with juicy shredded pork with fresh greens and a fiery pasilla Hollandaise on a dish called Recalentado.
But when it comes to French Toast, El Camino's is putting out a delicious spin on the comfort classic and making it next level. Their version is flavoured with cinnamon, and comes with heaps of fresh fruit, whipped cream, toasted pumpkin seeds, and a tequila caramel sauce you'll want to swipe every last drizzle of from your plate.
Since El Camino's is known as a fun hang for drinks, at brunch imbibers will be happy to find a range of options like mimosas and Caesars along with margaritas, Mexican pop, a Michelada (beer with Clamato juice), and boozy coffee.
If you prefer to have lunchier fare, the weekend daytime menu at El Camino's also includes basics like guac and chips, as well as tacos and tortilla soup.
Brunch is served at El Camino's Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant is located at 3250 Main St.
