Let's face it, tacos can make just about any day better. When the craving strikes, there are a few Vancouver go-tos that you've probably got your tastebuds well-trained for, so if you're looking for a few new tacos to get in your belly, check out these five newer taco spots in Vancouver you may not have tried yet.
Lucha Verde
Lucha Verde took over the old Lolita's space earlier this year with its bold bent on vegetarian cuisine with a Latin flair. There are a few tacos on the menu here, including bites like a Fried Cheese taco made with halloumi, a stuffed squash blossom taco, and a vegan BBQ jackfruit option, too.

Sombreros

This brand new combo taqueria and Mexican specialty grocery store has a simple menu of tacos, tacos, and more tacos, and they offer them at the muy bueno price of four for $10. Meaty options include Tinga (chicken), Pastor (marinated pork), and Carne Asada (beef), and their veggie is a classic Rajas (mushroom and pepper), which you can load up on at five for $10.

Chancho

Another endeavour from the mind behind Vancouver's beloved Nuba and newcomer Fayuca, Chanco is a tortilleria and a taco shop, which dished up their authentic creations until they run out (which means you might have to hit them up before dinner time). Here it's basically down to pork or veggies, and what's cooking is often just what's fresh that day. They've got lots of ways to satisfy your taco craving from potatoes to pork belly.

Lucky Taco

Not the absolute newest guy on the block, but Kitsilano's Lucky Taco has been flying a bit under the radar for the last few months, since the space swapped the seafood of Supermarine for the cantina vibes of Lucky Taco. You'll find some usual suspects in the taco section of the menu (al pastor, Baja-style fried fish, and chicken mole) but you'll also see some creative liberties, like Lucky's Fried Chicken or Cheeseburger tacos. PS, they're open until 2 am Monday through Saturday, and to midnight on Sundays.

Kurumucho

Speaking of creative liberties, Kurumucho bends the rules with their Japanese tacos. There's Yam Tempura, a meatless ground "beef," salmon tataki, and chicken teri mayo, to name a few on their eclectic menu. Located on Hornby Street, you'll have to look closely to pick this new shop out from its neighbours, which include two poké shops and a couple of sushi joints. So Vancouver!
