Undoubtedly one of the most wink-wink raunchiest (themed) dessert shops in Vancouver, downtown's Perverted is closing down its shop.
"After 2,361 days at 797 Thurlow, Oct. 31 will be our last day in this vessel," declared the treat shop's operators on social media, adding: "Beyond our control."
The ice cream parlour, known for its naughtily-named and mostly plant-based soft serve ice cream treats, seems to be exiting in as cryptic a fashion as they came.
Back in 2018, the then-forthcoming brand declared its imminent arrival with a lot of puns and innuendo. They're still using the same hashtag as then: #everytimeicomeicecream, so, there's that. (It was also painted on one of the shop's walls.)
One of Perverted's more recent admirers was visiting media personality Bethenny Frankel, who raved about the shop, giving the concept and the ice cream 10 out of 10 in a TikTok video.
It seems the closure was unplanned and perhaps foisted upon the Perverted folks. The farewell message suggests the departure is merely about the current physical location and not the brand entirely. The announcement indicates the "brand is going places," and implores fans to "stay tuned."
In response to a comment asking where a new Perverted Ice Cream location might be, the business replied they weren't sure at the moment, adding: "This came SO fast that we are working our ππ off to get reincarnated."
