A 'premium' steak and seafood restaurant will open soon in Vancouver's Cambie Village

Plus a raw bar with oysters, ceviche, and more all in the works for this new restaurant

A new restaurant that will serve steak and seafood is set to open this summer in Vancouver.

Black Walnut is renovating the space that was formerly Kino at 3456 Cambie St and, according to one of its team members, could be up and running as soon as July.

The "premium" restaurant will have a "steak and seafood focus with a beautiful raw bar for oysters, crudos, [and] ceviche," describes chef and partner Josh Gonneau, who brings several years of experience to the table, having most recently served as a culinary instructor at VCC and PICA and as Executive Chef at downtown Vancouver's Cibo Trattoria.

"As I have always done we will be using the best of what we have close to home as well some of the incredible seafood we have coming into the city, and, of course top quality beef," elaborates Gonneau on his personal Instagram account announcing the new venture. Gonneau adds that Black Walnut will also have some vegetarian dishes on the menu.

So far, the Black Walnut website only urges future diners to follow the restaurant on Instagram at @blackwalnutcambie (where, similarly, details are scant). However, Gonneau has been teasing some menu items in the works on his personal social media.

V.I.A. will update when more info is available.
