During last year's FOOD FIGHT! We asked what your favourite late night places were. I'm rarely up late, but the few times I have been this year, I've really had a hard time finding a place to eat.
My standards aren't really that high, but one thing that restricts my choices is that the places must be good....while sober.
When I lived on the west side, Calhoun's was always a really good spot, and on the east side we do have Duffin's , but for some reason that place at night makes me feel like I'm not sober.... the lights maybe....
Finally, last night coming home from the Dry Spot, I found it! Breka Bakery, in one of Vancouver's more underrated strips on 49th near Fraser (cue the Honest Nat's jingle)
I love bakeries...the choices, the price...the freshness. This place is pretty much Calhoun's east, right down to the 'hey..this isn't a library!'. I'm really backing the old school bakery feel too, the sugar cookies, gingerbread men....mmmm.....
