A Taiwanese bubble tea brand known for its fruit teas is expanding its presence in Vancouver with another location set to open soon.
Macu Tea started in 2008 in Taiwan; the brand opened its first North American store in Richmond in the spring of 2023, followed by its first outlet in the city of Vancouver on Robson Street a year later. The bubble tea shop then added a Burnaby outpost to its Metro Vancouver roster.
Now Macu will be adding another local franchise, this time in Kerrisdale, under a separate franchise ownership than the other regional locations.
Macu Tea is opening at 5971 West Blvd, taking over the former Me + Crepe space.
Operators tell V.I.A. by email the shop is expected to open in late March.
"We can’t wait to bring the vibrant world of bubble tea to the community," operators of the Kerrisdale Macu Tea shop added.
"Our team is excited to become part of the Kerrisdale neighbourhood and look forward to welcoming everyone through our doors soon."
The Macu Tea menu is focused on fruit tea drinks, including ones made with real strawberries, grapes, and mangoes. Their seasonal dessert drink, the King of Mango, is one of the brand's most popular items.
Macu Tea enthusiasts can follow the forthcoming Kerrisale shop on Instagram @macutea_kerrisdale for updates.
