When Cactus Club opened their Richmond location 25 years ago, it was just the fourth in the young chain that now boasts 29 locations in multiple provinces. On November 7, the restaurant debuted their new Richmond outpost in a fresh spot, and this Cactus Club is an art-infused testament to the legacy of this trusted brand.
Occupying an impressive nearly 7,000 square feet at Richmond Centre, the 300-seat Cactus Club is tricked out with not only some very celebrate artists' work, but also appealing features like a year-round patio with a retractable roof (and heaters for those oh-so-chilly Vancouver days).
While the old Cactus Club was known for their eclectic art--like a giant moose head and a rabbit in a hat painting--this new showstopper space showcases the work of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquit, Mr. Brainwash, and others.
Speaking of that old artwork, the Richmond crew opted to raise money for the Richmond Food Bank by holding an auction for those art pieces, bringing in $5,000 for the cause.
You'll definitely experience the "Cactus Vibe" at this new location--and those signature yellow umbrellas are a can't miss, even in the parking lot, where some spaces close to the restaurant's entrance are accessible with payment for Cactus customers, to save the hassle of circling the lot in search of a space.
The menu of course showcases what keeps Cactus so incredibly popular, many with Chef Rob Feenie's touch.
It's hard to imagine anyone needs a primer for a Cactus Club menu, but as a refresher, they have appies like "Rob's Flatbread," Tuna Tataki, that always-satisfying butternut squash ravioli with prawns, the chicken lettuce cups, and those yam fries.
Mains include an array of steaks; salads and grain bowls; casual bites like tacos and rice bowls; sandwiches; and of course the Feenie Burger. There are plenty of options for beverages, as well as desserts.
The new Richmond Centre Cactus Club really celebrates the legacy of the chain, and its importance in the Richmond community. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 am to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 1 am.
