A Kitsilano Mexican restaurant ceased operations suddenly this weekend, and they say the City of Vancouver is at least in part responsible.
Cantina Pana, located on Cornwall, announced the night of Friday, January 24 they would have to close their doors indefinitely.
"Our business is nearly bankrupt and it is with great sadness that we have to close until the City of Vancouver grants us a liquor license," writes the restaurant on their Facebook and Instagram notices.
The Cantina Pana website offers this message: "The City of Vancouver has beaten us down to a point of near bankruptcy. We can not continue to operate this way."
The Kits Point So Cal-inspired taco joint is a sibling to neighbouring spots Corduroy and Corduroy Pie Co.
The menu focuses on tacos, burritos, and bowls, as well as a recently-launched brunch program. In addition to offering seating for about 20, Cantina Pana offers a take-out window and delivery through popular local services.
It seems based on the tone of the messages they are sharing online that the restaurant does hope to re-open at some point, however when remains up in the air.
