Canadian fashion company Retrokid is launching a series of shirts and aprons with Vancouver-based celebrity chef Stephen Yan who hosted a popular cooking show in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

For years, Stephen Yan introduced many people to Chinese cooking.

On TV from the 1970s to the 1990s, Wok with Yan made the chef famous, not only in Canada but also in the States, where the show aired.

Yan moved to Vancouver in the 1960s and, for a while, he had a couple of restaurants in Metro Vancouver.

While Yan has been retired for years, Toronto-based clothing company Retrokid, which focuses on old pop culture (particularly old Canadian TV shows), has is launching a collection of clothing in collaboration with the former TV chef.

"This special collection combines Retrokid's signature nostalgic style with the vibrant spirit of Yan's enduring legacy, offering fans a fashionable tribute to one of Canada's most cherished culinary figures," reads a press release from Retrokid.

The collection includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, chopsticks and more. There will even be aprons with some of Yan's favourite wok puns, like “Wok on by,” and “Wok on the wild side."

"It's wonderful to see how the essence of my cooking show can be transformed into such fun and fashionable items. I hope this collection brings back fond memories and inspires new ones," says Yan in the release.

A launch event for the collection will be held Aug. 10 in Toronto.
