A Quebec-based retailer known for its line of chocolates and shops with ice cream parlours serving up decadent treats is set to expand in British Columbia and is prepping to open a new franchise location in Vancouver this year.
Chocolats Favoris will double its B.C. presence this year when it opens at 14 Water St in Gastown.
Currently, the sole Chocolats Favoris in British Columbia is in Downtown Victoria on Government Street in the popular tourist district.
Chocolats Favoris does soft-serve treats in cups and cones they dunk in their warm, thick, rich chocolate coating. Even the small sizes are massive and make for some epic treats.
What's in store and on the menu at Chocolats Favoris?
The chain does dairy and non-dairy soft serve and sorbets available in dipped cones with flavours like cotton candy, s'mores, or milk chocolate or in sundaes, tricked out "Kooky" cones with toppings, or in drinks like affogatos or shakes. They have brownies, cakes, and cheesecake, and also do a chocolate-loaded "poutine," as well as several coffee beverages.
The retail section includes all sorts of candy and chocolate treats, like chocolate-coated fruits and nuts, fondues in several flavours, and more.
Specific plans for the Vancouver shop have not been shared. It will be just the second Chocolats Favoris franchise situated west of Ontario (with the Victoria one its first) and according to the company's website, the projected opening is this spring.
Chocolats Favoris is moving into the Gastown space that was previously a Native shoes retail shop located on the ground level of what's known as the "Garage" building at 12 Water Street. The space is approximately 1,460 square feet, according to realtor documents.
The brand, which began in 1979, currently lists 58 stores on its website.
