Time to eat, drink, and be merry! One of the best places for afternoon tea in Vancouver has launched its popular Christmas-themed seasonal tea service, complete with all sorts of elegant and whimsical holiday touches.
H Tasting Lounge at the Westin Bayshore has decked the halls and pulled out all the stops for its Festive Afternoon Tea.
The room is decorated beautifully, and genteel live music adds to the sophisticated and festive atmosphere.
In addition to its regular roster of loose-leaf Tealeaves teas, H Tasting Lounge also has some seasonal options available for its take on the cherished holiday tradition, like the Nutcracker, a black tea with fragrant hints of warming vanilla and hazelnut.
Your festive tea eating begins with a Santa’s cookies platter, complete with "reindeer treats" (adorable meringue carrots) and a mini mug of rice cereal-infused oat milk. There are gingerbread scones with all the trimmings: house-made clotted cream and fig jam.
Those familiar with tea service at H Tasting Lounge know there are two signature components: Cotton candy (for this themed tea, it's atop a deer) and a beautiful Ferris wheel-style delivery for all the sweet and savoury bites.
The culinary team took the flavours of the season to heart to create the tea bites, from the Boxing Day ham sandwich that you dip into creamy Mornay sauce to the toasted bread topped with a one-bite holiday turkey dinner.
The sweets are as delightful to look at as they are to eat, and the attention to detail is marvellous (case in point: the teeny, tiniest of mini candy mushrooms atop your bite-sized yule log).
Priced at $79 per person, this limited edition offering represents an excellent value for a special seasonal celebration. H Tasting Lounge is offering Festive Afternoon Tea on weekends (and Christmas Day) from now through Sunday, Dec. 29, with reservation times between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tables are allotted two hours for the tea experience, and prepaid reservations for one to 12 guests can be secured via Tock.
