A popular hot pot restaurant is expanding in Metro Vancouver. The Dolar Shop has announced they are opening a second location in the region, and are opening soon in Burnaby.
The Dolar Shop Hot Pot’s first location opened in Shanghai in 2004.
In 2017, the brand opened their first Canadian franchise at Lansdowne Centre in Richmond. Now the hot pot chain is prepping to open at 6078 Silver Drive in Burnaby's bustling Metrotown area.
Signage has gone up and work is being done on the interior, though the hot pot spot has not shared a target opening date yet.
Known for their elaborate hot pot spreads featuring premium ingredients like wagyu beef and seafood, Dolar Shop became the first hot pot restaurant in Canada to partner with Ocean Wise, an organization committed to promoting sustainable seafood, in late 2018.
The restaurant features several hot pot broths, including tomato and oxtail as well as pork bone broth and more. They have an extensive sauce bar, as well as popular side dishes like a pancake-style bread you can dip in the broth alongside the fresh cuts of meat and pieces of seafood and shellfish. Dolar Shop also gives customers a free vanilla ice cream cone to finish off the meal.
Additionally, while Dolar Shop is considered among the pricier of Metro Vancouver's many hot pot options, fans cite the customer service, pleasant atmosphere, and the quality of ingredients for making them repeat visitors to the Richmond restaurant.
