Earlier this spring, Downtown Vancouver's Gyoza Bar switched to a weekday destination for Japanese curry dishes. Now, after just over six months in business, the newly opened restaurant is closing.
Wa! Curry was the new concept from Aburi (Miku, Minami, Aburi Market). They flipped what used to be Gyoza Bar downtown into a dine-in and take-out curry spot making silky, savoury long-cooked curries using the wagyu they import for their market and restaurants.
Ownership of the restaurant remained the same -- it's still Vancouver's esteemed Aburi Restaurants Canada behind the new curry-centric venture.
On Sept. 22, Wa! Curry shared that their brick-and-mortar location will be closing for good on Sept. 29.
"We will be closing the restaurant-front to our Japanese curry brand, Wa! Curry, to focus on our upcoming new openings and continue to build our in-house offerings at Aburi To-Go and Aburi Market," reads the Instagram post.
A few of those new openings are Vancouver's first Japanese bagel shop and a brand new fine-dining destination. The restaurant's beloved Japanese wagyu curry can still be found at Aburu To-Go and Aburi Market.
"We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. It has been a pleasure serving you, and we cherish the memories we've created together," the restaurant adds.
