Home to one of the best patios in downtown, the charming Gallery Café at the Vancouver Art Gallery is open for summer hours from 9am-9pm, Monday to Friday and from 9:30am-6pm on weekends. The Gallery Cafe does not require admission into the Vancouver Art Gallery.
The self-serve café offers sandwiches, paninis, quiches, salads and soups in either the chic indoor seating area or on the beautiful garden patio. Try the excellent panini's served with house salad ($8.75) including the popular turkey, pear and brie or the fully-loaded caprese. The hand made quiches are a must eat with wonderful combinations including chicken, broccoli with smoked applewood cheese or the shrimp and asparagus. Excellent specialty salads can be paired with soup of the day ($9.50) and for vegans enjoy the chickpea sandwich wrap ($7.75).
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and relax with an afternoon espresso, cappuccino, or a latte. Indulge in one of the Gallery café's sinful homemade desserts which rotate daily. Choose from heavenly cheesecakes, flans, tarts, pies and cakes.
The Gallery Café is the perfect downtown location to share a bottle of bubbly or wine with friends. Local offerings including CederCreek Estate Winery, Gheringer Brothers, and Mission Hill Winery, by the glass ($7.75/$8.75) or by the bottle ($29.00/$33.00). Foreign imports including bubbly are $9.25 by the glass or $35.00 by the bottle. Local craft beers from Four Winds, Parallel 49, Stanley Park and Phillips are available by the bottle as well as Rock Creek ciders for $5.75. Martinis ($6.50) are served up for cocktail hour.
Starting at 4:00pm, the Gallery Cafe also offers table service on the patio for their popular Terrace Nibbles. The Les Du Amis Fromage Cheese Plate ($15.00) and the Buffalo mozzarella, proscuitto and salami plate ($15.00) are perfect for sharing. Enjoy live music on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4pm-8pm.
