Did you know that Vancouver has an ice cream sandwich shop that's totally gluten-free? Whether you need to keep gluten out of your treats or not, Innocent Ice Cream scoops up scrumptious ice cream and builds ice cream sandwiches with their own housemade cookies, and makes for an adorable dessert destination.
Innocent Ice Cream is a seasonal shop, though, and after being closed for the cooler months, they've just re-opened as of March 1.
On the menu are 17 kinds of ice cream sandwiches, from the sweet simplicity of the Classic (Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream) or the decadent Elvis (Peanut Butter Cookies and Banana Pudding Nice Cream). Many of their options are totally vegan, in addition to being gluten-free.
Innocent's ice cream sandwiches come in full or mini size, and you can even get a flight of three mini sammies if you're feeling indecisive. You can also request your own flavour combo. They're all served up on their signature soft, chewy gluten-free cookies.
If you're not in the mood for an ice cream sandwich, Innocent does ice cream by the scoop in housemade gluten-free waffle cones, too. The cafe serves up a few soft drinks and coffees, and you can also pre-order an ice cream cake from them.
Innocent Ice Cream began as a bicycle cart, then grew to a food truck before settling into the space on south Main. They are open from 6 to 10 p.m. weeknights for your after dinner sweet fix, and from noon to 10 p.m. on weekends.
Innocent Ice Cream is located at 4895 Main Street in Vancouver
