Let's send Chef Ned Bell across Canada

It could be said that Ned Bell, YEW seafood + bar Executive Chef, is crazy for healthy seafood. So crazy, in fact, that this Canada Day he's going to be embarking on an insane cross-Canada bicycle ride over 10 weeks to shine a light on it.

It could be said that Ned Bell, YEW seafood + bar Executive Chef, is crazy for healthy seafood. So crazy, in fact, that this Canada Day he's going to be embarking on an insane cross-Canada bicycle ride over 10 weeks to shine a light on it. Under the Chefs for Oceans banner he'll be riding about 200km per day with an intense schedule of signature events dotting his journey.

Can you imagine cycling across the country for 10 weeks? I personally can't even imagine cycling to Burnaby, but I can imagine paying $10 to buy a tin of wild albacore tuna in support of Ned and his big, crazy idea which is actually part of an even loftier goal of creating a movement which, within in the next 10 years, allows every Canadian to easily and readily access sustainable seafood for themselves and their families. We are with Ned on this one.

His hope is that as the sustainable seafood movement continues to grow, environmentally responsible procedures will become firmly rooted as standard methods in future generations. Also at the forefront of Chef Bell's journey is the goal to institute and raise awareness for National Sustainable Seafood Day, a day which spotlights the necessity of healthy oceans, lakes and rivers for the futures of both human beings and the environment. As the father of two sons, Fin 15 and Max 4, Chef Bell is dedicated to inspiring Canadians to become part of the solution for healthier oceans for today's children and generations to come. He's really, really awesome and he needs our help to make this journey a reality.

Ned will be selling cans of his limited edition, signature brand, high end tuna at EAT Vancouver starting May 30th. If you just want to donate money then please visit THIS PAGE and give all that you can. There are a number of sponsors involved but there's still a lot of money to be raised to get Ned all the way across this country.

Starting on July 1st he'll be cycling from St. John's Newfoundland all the way back to Vancouver. Watch V.I.A. for his weekly updates from the road, and check out ChefsForOceans.com to get the full scoop.
