Vancouver will soon get to experience "Paris cafe culture" with a pastry shop's expansion this spring.
Mon Paris Pâtisserie, an award-winning Burnaby business known for its cakes, confections and French-inspired pastries with a modern twist, is opening a second location at 1731 Manitoba St in Olympic Village.
That's the former site of Yandoux Pâtisserie and dessert parlour. An official grand opening date has yet to be announced.
Chef/owner Elena Krasnova attended Ferrandi Ecole de Gastronomie, a renowned school in central Paris for aspiring chefs, and was captivated by the city's patisserie and cafe scene.
Born in Russia, Krasnova first opened Mon Paris in Burnaby in 2017, and has been acknowledged by top pastry chefs around the world.
She said she looks forward to sharing her experiences through her craft in Vancouver.
“I’m so excited to bring Mon Paris to a new neighbourhood in Vancouver and look forward to transporting guests to the heart of the Paris café culture that I fell in love with,” said Krasnova in a release.
“I want to thank all of the people who visited us in Burnaby for the past eight years for their support and look forward to bringing a little of that same magic to this new location.”
The Vancouver location's menu will include new "lunch-focused" items like Parisian baguette sandwiches in addition to daily creations.
The new Olympic Village location, Krasnova said, will be inspired by the "celebrated cafés of Paris" with cozy seating for 20 people.
