Bingo Taco and Alphabet City closed this spring on Main Street in Vancouver's Riley Park.

The duo of Alphabet City and Bingo Taco have quietly closed up.

The Riley Park pair, at 4242 Main St., has papered-over windows and notes on Google stating they're "permanently closed."

Alphabet City opened in the fall of 2019, with Bingo Taco opening as a sibling in the same space in 2021.

Both began as the ventures of local restaurateur Matt Thompson (The Five Point, Anthem Pizza, Park Drive) who took over the former Splitz Grill space to launch Alphabet City.

While no official announcement has been made online, the website for the two restaurants has been taken down and their social media pages appear to be dormant (or made private). No plan for the spaces has been shared publicly.

Along with Bingo Taco's tacos, the menu included other casual classic shareables like nachos, poutine, and, of course, lots of drink options. The menu was also served at Alphabet City.

At the end of last year, Thompson shuttered another restaurant, Cannibal Cafe, after 13 years in business, citing numerous factors, including his health issues. That spot on The Drive has since become a second outpost of The Fish Counter

Note: An earlier version of this article referred to the neighbourhood incorrectly as Mount Pleasant. They were further south in Riley Park.
