The team behind newcomer Wren Café has made short work of transforming the former Hazukido croissant shop in Yaletown and they are ready to open the doors to customers this weekend.
Wren Cafe has set its soft opening for Saturday, June 8 with limited service available while supplies last.
The new cafe at 280 Nelson St will be serving pastries, bread, and beverages until they run out, according to Wren's Instagram account.
Hazukido quietly exited the Yaletown space at the end of April. The Taiwanese franchise specializing in Japanese-inspired baked goods had been open for about a year and a half.
Plans for Wren were in motion when Hazukido shuttered about a month ago; a business license application for Wren Café was already pending at the time.
Wren has shared on social media its menu will include treats like a Lemon Blueberry Tart, Saint-Honoré Gateaux Nantais, and Strawberry Vanilla Pavlova, among others. The café will be baking house-made sourdough loaves.
The bread will bolster the café's brunch service, which will not be available initially, however, it looks like dishes like wild mushroom soup, pulled pork and poached eggs on toast, and eggs Benny are in the works.
