Watch: After over a year of anticipation, Vancouver's new Japanese cheesecake shop is ready to open

This cheesecake brand has amassed a cult following in Japan

After months and months of waiting, Vancouver can finally say they have an outpost of a Japanese phenom cheesecake shop.

Pablo Cheese Tart has amassed a cult following in Japan, and a shop has been in the works at 511 W Broadway (at Cambie) since January 2022. Now the popular brand - named for famed artist Pablo Picasso - is ready to open up its first-ever B.C. location.

Opening date for the Vancouver Pablo Cheese Tart cafe has been set for July 21.

Pablo Cheese Tart specializes in creamy, rich cheesecakes and minis, which come in over a dozen exciting flavours.

The alluring mini cheese tarts not only come in classic flavours like the original, chocolate, or matcha, but with eye-catching toppings like chestnut (done in a mountain of strands, like Mont Blanc desserts), white chocolate raspberry, fresh mango, or ube, among others. Those ordering a dozen get their treats packed in a sturdy gift box with rigid compartments for each mini tart, ensuring if you are taking them to-go they will arrive pristine.

The cheesecake filling is fluffy and oozy (especially if you warm it up a bit), but the treats prove equally as enjoyable if they've firmed up a bit in your fridge.

In addition to its signature cheesecakes, Pablo Cheese Tart's Vancouver cafe is making smoothies, including in a classic "Cheese Tart" flavour, which is akin to a milkshake and tastes creamy and fruity thanks to the addition of apricot.
