A new fast-casual brand is entering the market in Metro Vancouver, and it promises "game-changing comfort food."
Called Chubbs, the new venture is prepping to open up in South Surrey, taking over a former Flight Centre space at the sprawling Morgan Crossing shopping plaza on Croydon.
The Metro Vancouver Chubbs will be one of two debut outposts planned for what could be the first stages of a mini-chain in western Canada; Chubbs is also gearing up to open a restaurant in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
So just what kind of comfort eats are we talking about here? Chubbs touts they'll be dishing up hot dogs (aka "dawgs"), poutine, sub sandwiches, and shakes.
The restaurant, which will occupy a 777-square-foot space at the South Surrey mixed-use property, also promises food made with "real, premium ingredients and a slice of ‘Chubbs Love’ to make food that tastes truly incredible."
Chubbs also proclaims deep ties to the music biz: "Chubbs is inspired by the vibe and soul of the music industry and by the life and travels of Chubbs the musician himself." It's not immediately clear who this may be (though the V.I.A. newsroom have a pretty solid working theory pending verification) and Chubbs does have a link to an as-yet empty Spotify playlist for the restaurant brand.
What is clear is that Chubbs has a goal to expand and offer franchises of the business; prospective franchisees can submit a request via the Chubbs website.
We've reached out to Chubbs to see if they've got more info about the restaurant to share and will update when info is available.
