Sushi Umi, from North Vancouver, is opening a second location in Vancouver's Fairview neighbourhood.

Sushi Umi is heading south.

The North Vancouver sushi restaurant is opening a second location in Vancouver's Fairview neighbourhood. The new sushi spot will be at 3121 Granville St, where Italian restaurant Impostori Trattoria closed earlier this year.

While Impostori Trattoria's branding is still all over the property, a sign for Sushi Umi now hangs outside the restaurant and business documents have been filed with the city.

The original Umi is located at 1995 Lonsdale Ave. in North Van's Central Lonsdale neighbourhood, where it has been serving things like the Grouse Mountain Roll, Rainbow Oshi and the Umi Tower (a tower of crab, salmon, tuna and avocado) in creative ways.

The location has seen a few different concepts over the years. Prior to Impostori opening in 2022, it was the Rise Eatery, Pho Hoa Noodle Soup and Chow.
