A new option for traditional Turkish foods and kebabs has opened in East Vancouver.
After more than a decade the space at 3663 E Hastings St is once again in use as Istanbul Restaurant just opened at a spot on the border with Burnaby.
The new restaurant, as the name suggests, focuses on a variety of Turkish dishes including kofta, barbecued chicken, and plenty of kebabs.
"At Istanbul Restaurant, we offer iskender kebab. A specialty amongst the kebab varieties," reads an Instagram post.
All meats are halal, according to the restaurant.
Istanbul Restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily; there are take-out options.
Prior to welcoming its new tenant, the space had been empty for more than a decade. Pho 66 closed in 2009, according to business records; before that, the space was home to Bino's Pancake House, Red Rooster Restaurant, and Stephan's Pasta and Grill.
