A Kitsilano space that's seen a couple of concepts already come and go is taking on a fresh new identity.
A new all-day café, called Brightside, is moving in at 3040 W Broadway.
The coffee-centric offering replaces Just Another Coffee Shop, which was an extended run of a cheekily-named pop-up coffee shop concept. Operators packed it in this spring, with the intention of swiftly turning the space into a permanent venture.
"As much as we've enjoyed this time, we are so incredibly excited about our plans for this space," the cafe business shared on social media in April 2022.
Just Another Coffee Shop scrubbed its socials, so it's unclear if this is the coffee business' rebrand and relaunch.
However, coffee - and coffee expertise - is at the core of Brightside.
"Our team has over two decades of experience owning and operating cafes and roasting really, really good coffee. And while our foundation will always be quality ingredients – in our coffee, in our baking, and in our food – our real obsession is delivering remarkably excellent service," describes Brightside in a job listing for the cafe.
Currently, the West Broadway space is under renovation, and the window coverings point to not just the name and the fact that they'll have coffee and food, but also wine.
"We named our company Brightside because we believe in taking an optimistic approach to our industry and what we do. We want to build a team and create an environment that is welcoming, friendly, and a bright spot in people's every day," Brightside's operators add.
Before Just Another moved in, the address was an outpost of Vancouver gourmet donut business Cartems, which had been the first tenant in the retail space as a redeveloped new build.
