An 'over the top dive aesthetic corner bar': Popular Metro Vancouver restaurant announces new venture

A playful menu of food and drink is on deck, plus a seagull mascot with some 'tude!

The crew behind Langley's colouful and vibe-y Haven Kitchen + Bar have got something new up their sleeve, and its name is Steven.

Take note: "Steven ain’t fancy."

Steven's Cocktail Corner Bar is set to open "right smack dab in the middle of Langley City," according to Haven's announcement. The new spot has been setting up at 20526 Fraser Hwy (at McBurney Square) in the space previously home to Shiraz Grill.

"Standing out from the crowd, Steven’s is an unapologetic, over the top dive aesthetic corner bar," describe the owners.

The “come as you are," Steven's is touted as being "upbeat" and "unassuming," and its mascot is a seagull with an attitude. "He’s no eagle, but don’t you dare mistake him for a pigeon. He claims to know karate," joke the Haven folks on social media.

Patrons can expect to find "puffy tacos and smash burgers" on a menu created by Chef Spencer Watts; the longtime TV chef is also behind Haven's lively and approachable menu of gastropub-style fare.

Among the burger options Watts has created is the "PBJ Smash": Two O.G smash patties, double melted American cheese with rosemary grape jelly and caramelized onions served on thick slices of griddled Texas toast.

From the bar at Steven's you'll find "playful cocktails, boozy slushies and local rotating taps."

Steven's is aiming to open this fall. Follow @stevens_langley on Instagram for updates.
