Anatolia's Gate has become a staple in Burnaby for Turkish cuisine, and now the restaurant has expanded to add a second location in neighbouring Vancouver.
Located at 1039 Granville St, Anatolia's Gate opened its doors in Vancouver this fall. The restaurant replaces prior concepts at the same address, like most recently Arabesque (a Syrian bakery/cafe) and, previously, Street Auntie (a high-end modern Chinese venture).
Anatolia's Gate is beloved for its authentic Turkish food, with dishes like wraps made with lavash (a thin, leavened flatbread), lahmajun (ground meat spread on a thin crust), and a variety of kabob plates.
The menu also features traditional dips and spreads, soups, salads, and meat or veggie curries, as well as kofte (similar to meatballs), and pide, which is a bread formed into a boat-like shape and filled with cheese.
For dessert, Anatolia's Gate has baklava and kunefa, which is a Middle Eastern specialty of spun pastry strands baked over a creamy filling. Beverages include ayran, a Turkish yogurt drink, or a classic Turkish coffee or tea.
