Donuts, coffee, pastries, and brunch: One of Vancouver's favourite bakery cafés is adding another location to its Metro roster with plans to open next month in Surrey.
Nemesis, which launched in Vancouver in 2017, will have its fourth location in the Surrey Pavilion, located at 13380 102A Ave in the City Centre area near Surrey Central SkyTrain station.
The space is 2,600 square feet and will have all the elements Nemesis fans know and love (and will likely earn some new devotees, too).
Known for its excellent coffee program and selection of high-quality and often decadent house-made pastries, Nemesis will also serve up brunch at the new Surrey location. The restaurant will have seating for 50, and, when the weather warms up, an expansive patio.
Additionally, Nemesis at Surrey Pavilion will be the home to Dope Bakehouse donuts - something unique to the location.
The donuts will be made in Nemesis' full pastry kitchen at the new location and will feature modern takes tapping into nostalgia.
When it comes to brunch, guests can expect dishes like those at the other Nemesis outposts (Gastown, Great Northern Way, Polygon). One of the brand's signature items is the Mortadella breakfast sandwich, served on a Croissant Supreme (a circular croissant), but they're also known for their loaded toasts and pork belly Bennies, too.
Sweet treats range from classic or flavoured croissants and cookies to cruffins (croissant-muffin hybrids) and more.
Executive Chef Mielye Mitchell and Executive Sous Chef Lina Serrano, who have been leading the Nemesis culinary program, will run the new Surrey kitchen.
“Surrey is one of the country’s fastest-growing cities and City Centre is at the core of its growth — a community surrounded by families, campuses, sports facilities, parks, public art, and more,” said Nemesis founder Jess Reno in a media release announcing the forthcoming location.
Reno added that the neighbourhood is an ideal fit for the brand, given its role as a hub for arts, culture, and education in Surrey.
Nemesis Central is slated to open in February.
