Vancouver has a new destination for all things waffle.
Canffle, which describes itself as a "premium waffle house," recently opened its doors at 3581 Kingsway in a new building located just west of the Boundary Road Burnaby border.
Waffles, of course, take centre stage here, with the classic fluffy, grid-ded treat presented in various styles. Canffle's "signature" item is a Norwegian Brown Cheese Waffle, which is a take on a beloved treat in Norway, featuring "brown cheese" on a crispy flat plan waffle with maple syrup and whipped cream.
Offerings include loaded savoury breakfast waffles, like the "Garden Blossom," decked out with salad, grilled squash and tomato, feta cheese, and balsamic dressing. Canffle also makes eggs benedict dishes loaded onto waffles, as well as waffles with omelettes, or gooey "melts" that pretty much turn the waffle into a pizza - in fact, "pizza" is one of the flavour options.
If you prefer your waffles on the sweet side, there's a whole menu section for "dessert" waffles, too. These waffles are piled high with ice cream, whipped cream, and toppings like seasonal berries or a caramelized banana, each with its own distinct extra sweet touches.
In addition to plated all-day brunch waffles, Canffle is making treat-y "donut" waffles in a variety of flavours, as well as "Croffles," which are - if you haven't guessed - waffled croissants.
To drink at Canffle, you'll find beverages like coffee and espresso drinks, teas, and hot chocolate.
