Now here's something that's a bucket full of fun - literally: One of Vancouver's favourite plant-based restaurants has put slushie buckets on the menu.
The West End's Beetbox is now loading up fruity slushie drinks into cheery buckets, perfectly portable for those outdoor hang sessions under the fleeting Vancouver sun.
The "Beat the Heat" slushie bucket features four litres of cantaloupe-apple slushie mix, ladle, four cups, straws and garnishes for $29. You can add on a bottle of Cazadores Tequila Reposado, Bombay Sapphire Gin, or St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur for an additional $17-20 with your order to make it a ready-to-mix 19+ chill session to go.
For those who prefer to stick to a single slushie, Beetbox is also offering the summery drink by the cup at $5 for a 16-ounce pour. And they've got mini bottles of vodka or gin available to add on, too, at $5 a pop, making it $10 all told for your boozy slushie treat.
To take your beach day to the next level, the casual plant-based spot is also offering a cool "Beach Bag" combo this summer:
- Choice of Two Sandwiches (Burger with Cheeze or Classic/Nashville Chick-Un)
- Choice of Two Hot Sides (Excluding Chili Cheeze Fries)
- Choice of Two Beverages (Including alcoholic and zero-proof selections) or Virgin ‘Beet the Heat’ Slushies (mini 50-mL bottles of vodka or gin available as add-ons for $5 each)
- Custom Beetbox Tote
The Beach Bag combo runs $49 plus tax, and would be perfect for a date or friend meet-up (you'll have to fight over the bag, though).
Located on Davie at Thurlow, Beetbox is just a few blocks from the beach, too, which makes this tote perfect for taking a stroll and then hanging out at English Bay. Naturally, you'll want to be cautious: Beware of hungry birds, wear sunscreen, and for crying out loud keep your social distance from other beach-goers.
