A burger joint operating out of a Kitsilano arcade bar has announced it is closing temporarily to regroup ahead of a planned re-launch.
Mimi's Burgers opened officially just ahead of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vancouver and B.C.'s resulting restaurant shut-down. The casual burger spot, with its "no-frills" menu of burgers and fries, operates out of Glitch, a "retro arcade bar" at 2287 West Broadway.
"What ensued" after opening in March 2020 has "been troubling for all," describes Mimi's Burgers on its social media, "let alone a brand new business."
Despite setbacks including government-mandated pandemic restrictions, Mimi's attests they have been well-supported by locals and third-party delivery app business, but, at this time, the burger spot is going to "pause operations for a short time in preparation for an expansion of our Mimi's Burgers brand."
So far Mimi's hasn't shared any specifics regarding what the expansion entails, though it could be likely the burger joint has secured its own permanent space. The burger biz is encouraging fans and customers to keep a watch on and engage with the @mimiskits Instagram and Mimi's Burgers Facebook page for updates ahead of the relaunch.
