Vancouver's cherry blossoms have inspired another festival.
New this year is the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Food Festival, based around the springtime flowering of cherry trees around Metro Vancouver.
The food festival (which isn't affiliated with the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, but does encourage people to check out the similarly named event) is a self-guided eating tour running from March 29 to April 28 in the region.
This year 10 restaurants and cafes in Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby have signed up and will offer specially created cherry blossom-inspired treats. The participating businesses are:
- Boketto Tea Bar
- Broyé Cafe & Bakery
- Daigyo
- Elephant Garden Creamery
- Ki Cafe
- Jungle Room
- Matcha Cafe Maiko
- Sunny M Specialty Cafe
- Takenaka
- Whisk Matcha Cafe
"Festival goers can expect Instagram-worthy festival items like parfaits, iced beverages, and snacks - all decked out with that beautiful cherry blossom light pink colour," describe festival organizers.
Along with the items, there will be "missions and a passport activity." Participants in the two activities can collect stickers and win prizes.
More details about the free event will be released at a later date.
