West Vancouver police are asking for public assistance in finding a missing 53-year-old woman from the North Shore, who they believe may have travelled to a remote area of B.C.
Xiao Hua Jiang, who goes by her English name “Christina,” was reported missing on May 3 after family members were unable to make contact with her.
Jiang was last seen in West Vancouver on April 27 at 1 a.m. at friend's home.
On May 2, Jiang’s vehicle, a grey 2021 Toyota Highlander with the B.C. licence plate NB7 39C, was located abandoned on the Trans Canada Highway, between Revelstoke and Golden, B.C.
Golden RCMP searched the surrounding area with a police dog, but failed to turn up any sign of the missing woman.
“We are very worried about the well-being of Ms. Jiang,” said Const. Kevin Goodmurphy of the West Vancouver Police Department. “We are asking anyone who may have information on her whereabouts, to call their local police.”
Goodmurphy said Jiang's disappearance is described as out of character. "At this point, we are not ruling anything out," he said.
Jiang is described as an Asian woman who is 5’4” and 110 lbs, with shoulder-length black hair and grey/brown eyes. She has a medium complexion with sun spots on her face. She was last seen wearing a dark (blue/black) jacket and grey yoga-style pants.
If anyone sees Jiang, they are asked to call 911 immediately and if possible, to remain with her until help arrives.
