You should really take a closer look at this photo from the City of Vancouver Archives. This C.P.R. "Bachelors Hall" as they called it housed railway workers on False Creek. The spot it's sitting in is now filled in (likely where the Skytrain station is) and that's Fairview all shrouded in smoke in the background. Oh, and those ducks hanging off the guy's rifle? He shot those in False Creek!
