A restaurant in the Golden Village neighbourhood best known for lamb soup was temporarily closed after a health inspection.
According to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) records, a closure order was issued on July 10 for Shine Valley Lamb Soup in Continental Shopping Centre at 1103-3779 Sexsmith Rd. The restaurant has since reopened on July 15.
"We found some cockroach in our kitchen and reported to health officer," reads a sign posted outside the restaurant.
"We will stop opening to clean it thoroughly."
The VCH closure order next to the sign stated Shine Valley failed to comply with B.C.'s Food Premises Regulation because its equipment and utensils were not maintained in a sanitary condition and the restaurant was not free of pests.
Shine Valley was ordered to clean and sanitize the premises and "eliminate the current active cockroach activity." It was required to remain closed and complete all required actions before it receives authorization to reopen.
