Downtown Vancouver's London Drugs at one of the city's busiest intersections has been given the all-clear to re-open following an employee's diagnosis of COVID-19.
The London Drugs at Granville and Georgia (710 Granville St) was closed in order for the company to perfrom a "deep clean and sanitation" of the location.
The employee last worked in the store on March 18, according to the company, and was asymptomatic at the time. That worker is currently at home in self-isolation.
London Drugs says the location and company worked closely with Vancouver Coastal Health in order to undertake the deep cleaning.
"Drug stores and food stores play a critical and essential role during these extraordinary times. It is our job collectively to ensure they are working well and safe. Please know we are taking all measures to ensure our pharmacies and stores remain as safe as possible," assured London Drugs in a release.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company states that all London Drugs stores are being surface cleaned every hour at all customer touchpoints and when the stores close, there is a daily deep clean.
During the shut down, prescriptions were made available at a nearby location, or by delivery.
The London Drugs at Granville and Georgia was able to re-open in the morning of Sunday, March 29.
"Thank you to our patients and customers for your patience and understanding," said the company in a media release.
