A stranger assault in East Vancouver left one man with significant injuries.
Just before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 16), a stranger began yelling and acting erratically at a bus stop near Kingsway and McKinnon Street before allegedly attacking a nearby 58-year-old man and walking off.
The assault was unprovoked, according to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
A passerby found the injured victim who was then taken to hospital with head injuries. He is expected to survive.
VPD released photos of a suspect on Thursday (Aug. 17) but in an update later that evening shared that, after further investigation, the VPD ruled out that the man seen on video leaving the area was not involved in the crime.
The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s tip line at 604-717-4034.
