Many Vancouverites wondered why fireworks lit up the sky in the downtown core on Thursday night.
The Wall Centre celebrated its 30th anniversary on Thursday with an event on its rooftop garden filled with "vibrant blooms." Guests enjoyed live entertainment, cuisine, and a vibrant fireworks display, according to a news release.
The dazzling pyrotechnic display was observed by attendees and onlookers across the city. The nearly 500-foot architectural landmark offered a statuesque base for the vibrant spectacle, making it one of the highest ever observed in the city.
The Wall Centre, known as The Tower on the Hill, is Vancouver's third-tallest tower and offers accommodations with stunning, panoramic views of the city.
Wall Centre said the milestone event commemorated three decades of achievements in the city and also "set the stage for future innovations and successes."

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, local Stanley Q. Woodvine asked, "Something like a half hour of fireworks noise just ended. Was this a star turn by the winning Celebration of Light team?"
Several other Vancouverites shared videos, with several characterizing the event as "random" or surprising. One person said it was a "crazy surprise show."
