This November, IKEA Richmond is gearing up to welcome a new furniture assembly service or shoppers throughout the Lower Mainland.
The TaskRabbit IKEA service launched in Ontario on Thursday and is expected to be rolled out in Metro Vancouver next month. For a flat rate, customers can have products assembled for them in their house.
"We know that Canadians are increasingly time-strapped, with growing urbanization and longer commute times than ever. Expanding our offer with TaskRabbit's on-demand service enables IKEA to meet our customers' needs in a fast-changing retail landscape," said Marsha Smith, president of IKEA Canada in a press release.
"Today's launch (in Ontario) is an important step as IKEA Canada continues its transformation journey to become the leading multichannel home furnishings retailer, ensuring the shopping experience is convenient, flexible and affordable for our customers, both today and in the future."
To sign up for the service, customers can visit the TaskRabbit website through Ikea and complete an assembly request. Prices are based on the type of furniture and begin at $32.
The TaskRabbit service network also connects people to those who can help with other tasks around the house such as handyman work, moving help and snow removal. They launched in 2008 and were acquired by IKEA in 2017.
