Another new residential development is being proposed near the middle of Vancouver.
A developer is looking to build two 60 m towers in Oakridge not far from the massive redevelopment at the Oakridge Centre. Located at 5392-5472 Manson St., the two 18-storey towers would see 248 residential units added to the neighbourhood.
Currently, the area immediately around the proposed towers is filled with single-family houses.
The proposal for the two towers is being twinned with another, smaller, residential development at 5250-5270 Ash St., about one block north of the towers. The Manson Street development will be 248 units of market housing while the 77-unit Ash Street property will be used as social housing.
The proponents behind the project say the two developments meet the targets set out in the Cambie Corridor Plan and the city's housing goals, with increased density near Cambie Street and 41st Avenue, adding to the city's affordable housing, and increasing housing near transit and amenities.
The Manson Street towers will primarily be two-bedroom units (146) with 76 one-bedroom units and 26 three-bedroom units.
The design was inspired by trees, according to the application.
"Further exploration led us a desire to describe this two tower [sic] are two mega trees sitting in the park and harmoniously with other greenery around it," states the authors.
