The Burrard Slopes Park has been in the planning stages since the early 90s.

The city of Vancouver is working to create a new park and is looking for guidance from residents.

The Burrard Slopes Park, which has been in the works since the 1990s, will be located near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Fir Street in the border area of Kitsilano and Fairview.

While some parts of the future park are already park-like (and the Arbutus Greenway cuts through part of it), it's not quite official. Other parts of the area have buildings that need to be dealt with.

As plans continue to move forward, park planners are looking to the public for feedback.

"We want to hear from residents and visitors on the site’s existing amenities and what opportunities a new park can bring to the community. The input we receive will help inform a draft concept plan for the park," states the city on its website.

People have the opportunity to complete an online survey or visit a pop-up booth at West 6th and Fir (on Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

The city notes the name "Burrard Slopes Park" will likely be changed.

A draft idea for the park is expected in the spring of 2024.

Previously the city faced criticism of another draft park plan.
